What is the standard of living in Australia?

We have a standard of living that is higher than the US. And it won't matter if your an American as long as your not loud and obnoxious. And as Australia is a stunningly beautiful country and just about the same size as the u.s. there are lots of popular places, it's a matter of opinion. Personally my favourite place to live is Melbourne and currently my favourite holiday spot is Tasmania, in particular the south-west.
