Can I get 3G internet service in Costa Rica?

I am traveling to Alajuela, Costa Rica for one month to take a Spanish Immersion course and would like to continue editing an internet newsletter I do work for. The newsletter needs to be sent out every morning by 7:30 am and thus I will need access to the internet early in the morning. I don't know yet whether my host family will have an internet connection or whether there are any nearby hotspots that will be open that early. Ideally, I would like to be able to bring my laptop and a portable 3G wi-fi hotspot card, but I don't know if this would work in Costa Rica. any advice would be much appreciated.
