Professors do you enjoy attending faculty senate meetings or are you somewhat obliged to attend?

One of my grad school profs was our department's faculty senate rep for a year. She found it tedious and usually tried to sneak grading or other work in so that the time would be useful. Its a duty that usually goes to prof working toward tenure who needs to beef up their credentials. After that year somebody else took it and she's tenured now. She had taught other places but I don't think ever at a community college. She's a really good teacher and really enjoys it... most of the time.
