So how does everyone feel about the way news is covered and dealt with?

I'm doing a project for school, and would like to know how you think the media portrays things like the polygamist cult situation, and the dixie chicks voicing their opinions and even the long "deserved" coverage of anna nicole smith? please provide other examples as well!
