Psp problem?

ok about 1/5 of the time when i turn on my psp from hybernating the psp green on light turns on and the screen remains off after a few secs the light turns off and i hear a loud crackle (from the speakers). then when i turn it on again it starts up as if i shut it down (not hybernating since the sony entertainment thingy comes up). is this normal for the psp-2003? should i get it replaced? its the slim and light version. 10x for your answers.
