What is the reason for a ticket not showing up on my record if i was give none 3 months ago?

i was issued a speeding ticket in santa fe springs on 7/21/08 for speeding. i am trying to pay for the ticket but i dont know how much it is. there is not an amount on the ticket and i never recieved anything by mail. i went online to get the whittier and downey courthouse traffic automated number and both system tell me there is nothing on my record for it using ticket # and dl#. what do i do? my court date says not until 10/13/08. i dont want to go to court i just want to pay it.
